Rating out of 10: 5.

On this one there is a lot of tape hiss and you can't make out much of the speech. It is listenable, just!
This is the first of the 1972 gigs available that contains "The Jean Genie", which to me sounds a tad too fast! But then you have to remember that these come from very old tapes. According to "The Complete Tapes" Bowie played "Rock N Roll Suicide, but alas it's not included. So more or less complete.
Not much of the first USA tour around, so nice to have.

Wahey, hometown gig --and me aged all of, ahem, five years.

Do we have a venue name? Would be most interested to know it --I'm guessing the Auditorium Theatre, maybe the Uptown or the Aragon.

Nice blog mate. I could get lost in here for a good while...

I was at this concert at Chicago's Auditorium Theater in 1972, at the tender age of 17, with friends mark Evans and Charlie Hayes. Blew our socks off! No big production values, just Bowie, Ronson et al possessing the huge space through force of art and presence. Great to hear this again after so many years, thanks!
